We are enthusiastic about starting
Literate Nation Minnesota!
The new Common Core State Standards stipulate that 21st century students must be literate, educated, and ready to meet the demands of modern society to be college or workforce ready.
But, shockingly, only 36% of Minnesota’s 8th graders score as proficient readers on the NAEP. (Nation’s Report Card 2013)
Literate Nation Minnesota Coalition is spearheading a grassroots movement to improve literacy outcomes for all our struggling readers by requiring that teachers are trained in the Science of Reading and that struggling students are identified early and receive timely interventions.
Everyone needs to work together to change our failing system.
